WHAT ELSE CAN I DO

Apart from the detox diet, what else should you consider?

To get the most out of the detox diet, depends on  you should consider making positive changes for your mind, body and spirit. Good health depends on a good balance between your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

To achieve this we are going to try the following

Exercise

Most experts recommend thirty minutes of gentle to moderate exercise five days a week or twenty minutes of hard exercise three times a week. But on the detox programme you should listen to your body and do what you can manage. It is important that you enjoy your chosen activities and don’t regard them as a chore. In one of my earlier post i talked about 8 most underrated workouts . Check it out, you can also add other activities as you become accustomed to regular exercising.

Dry Skin Brushing

Its amazing to think that your body gets rid of around 1/2kg of waste products through your skin each day. Thats why it’s so important to look after your skin. If your pores get clogged with dead skin cells, the impurities will remain in your body, placing undue stress on your liver and kidneys.

That’s why daily dry skin brushing is really important. It makes your skin look brighter and feel softer (we would like that, wont we?)

So how do you do it? First, invest in a natural bristle brush or loofah. Start brushing at the soles of your feet, working up your legs, front, chest, back and finally your hands and arms. Avoid your face. Use firm, long strokes brushing towards your heart to encourage blood flow. The whole process should take about five minutes- you will feel quite warm afterward because you will have stimulated your circulation.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

There’s nothing quite like a great massage, is there? All types of massage are beneficial for stimulating the circulation but lymphatic massage focus on stimulating the lymphatic circulation (your body’s drainage system that carries nutrients into cells and remove waste products). It’s a gentle massage that encourages the removal of release toxins and leaves you with a wonderful feeling of relaxation. Soaking in Epsom salts baths, saunas before this will assist in relaxing the muscles and encourage further elimination of toxins.

Deep Breathing And Relaxation

The way you breathe affects the balance of your body and mind. If you are tense or stressed your breathing tends to be shallow. This means that you would take in less oxygen and it will be harder for your lungs to expel waste products and toxins. If you breathe deeply you will take in more oxygen, feel more relaxed and improve your overall health. Weird right?

This is what you should do. Breathe in slowly through your nose, allowing your diaphragm to expand downwards. you’ll be able to feel your abdomen rise. Pause for a moment then breathe out through your mouth.
